Local Snapshot
The local snapshot utility backs up the most recent changes to the volume since the last snapshot. Not only is snapshot faster, but it also saves space by preventing backing up duplicates.
There are multiple ways to schedule a local snapshot routine.
Hourly
The machine will routinely perform snapshots every 4 hours.
Nightly
The machine will perform snapshots close to midnight.
Monthly
The machine will perform snapshots on the first day of the month close to midnight.
Copies to Keep
The number of backup copies to keep.
File Spaces
All NFS Exports: Setting to Yes will do a snapshot on the entire snapshot directory. Selecting No will allow you to specify directories or not back up NFS at all.
All CIFS Shares: Setting to Yes will do a snapshot on the entire snapshot directory. Selecting No will allow you to specify directories or not back up CIFS at all.
All Home Directories: Setting to Yes will do a snapshot on the entire snapshot directory. Selecting No will allow you to specify directories or not back up Home Directories at all.
Selecting Directories for Snapshot
Click Select Directories on the local Snapshot page to select directories. Note that this option is enabled only if No is selected for at least one File Space.
Setting these options to ON will turn on these options. Turning them OFF will turn off these options; SELECT will do the same. You can select multiple options at once.
